Soap Making Course on Easter Island
Come and discover how to make your own soap and stroll around our mini botanical garden at the Rapa Nui Natural Products Company on one of our soap making courses on Easter Island. Working in a small, relaxed group in the RNNP facilities, we will show you how to make beautiful cold-processed handmade soap and provide all the help and materials you need to make some of your own to take away with you at the end of a fun and satisfying course.
The courses are led by Petra Klimscha and are held at the Rapa Nui soap works on Easter Island, Chile.
The course will cover the so called cold-process of soap-making, the use of base and essential oils, plants, colorants and also deals with the theoretical part and the fundamental aspects of safety throughout the process. Everyone on the course will have the opportunity to participate in the process of making a batch (weighing approximately 1.5 kg). During the course we will stroll through our mini botanical garden to get to know the tropical plants and medicinal herbs of Rapa Nui to determine which botanics are suitable for soap-making. Each partipant will receive the soap recipe and a soap (aprox. 100 grs.) which they can take home with them to cure and use (all materials and equipment provided). As most participants are only visiting the island for a short time and continue travelling and the freshly made soap is very fragile and requires about 4 weeks of curing time, we can offer you the alternative of taking a cured soap (ready for use) with you rather than your own.
We can adjust the course hours to your time table. The course can be held for just one person and has a maximum of four participants. We may put together a course with other inscribers, but never exceeding four. The course can be held in Spanish, English and German.
